I posted under introductions some eight months ago I'd been given a Nordwest 600 by a previous member of this Forum..(L Plate). Its been standing in a garage for a couple of years so it will need some care to bring it back to life. The previous owner believed the water pump has gone (while parked up) but the drips from under the engine looked more like oil to me. But I've now started to work on the bike and thought Id document what I've founds so far.

Seat and Panel

The seat has a couple of rips but is serviceable to get the bike up and running (see photo). Most f the panels have minor cracks and breaks which will require some form of strengthening to be applied at some stage (see photos)

Fuel Tank

The tank has had the original screw connector for the filler removed and a tight fitting replacement fitted. This will need a more permanent fixing

Water Pump and Cam Belt

Replaced the cam belt as its old but the water pump moves freely and is not leaking (the drip was oil from the engine oil sight glass which I've removed and resealed).

Replacing the belt was easy as Ive been given the puller as well.

Interestingly the water pump has some initials on so I guess one of the forum members may be able to identify who did the work. See photo

Carb

Both the tank and carb were bone dry, so I'm not sure is there was a leak somewhere or if it was deliberately drained. It has had a handle bar choke fitted but the cable to broke so I need to either have a special made of find out which bike the cable is from

The tank filler cap looks like an original, the threaded neck was a separate piece bonded on, that used to crack at the root of the thread if the bond was incomplete, many of us have replaced the plastic bit with an alluminium neck, I would suggest you bond your plastic neck back on, possibly using polyurethane sealer.
No Idea who made/repaired your water pump but the pulleys I have seen are 2 pieces welded together.

Ive something similar by three bond tat will seal the tank filler cap thread. While I think (and to save me getting fuel everywhere) how does the tank tap work. The arrow is horizontal pointing rearwards. Is this off? and which way for reserve?. Long time since Ive had to think about fuel taps
