Finally pulled my Nordwest out of storage, work, Covid, and building a house have taken up all my free time to ride.
I was fitting a new battery when I noticed a crack in the right fork upper, running VERTICALLY between the triple clamps. Checked the other side, all is good. Despondently I continued charging the battery and attempting to start it. Bike is sitting in full sunlight about 26 degrees C.

Then I literally see a crack forming in the other side where none was before!
I am the second owner, had the bike 4.5 years and have done about 11,000km on it. It was obvious that bike had been down at some point, but I have had no issues……this seems like some kind of weird metal fatigue. Not seen this before.

So, I’m looking for a set of forks, or just the upper. Spoke with Bob who is looking in his treasure pile, Ebay has nothing at the moment.
Forks from a KTM Duke 2 seems like the right length etc, but will no doubt need stem changed at the minimum. Any other fork suggestions?

I’m also getting a quote to get some CNC’d, then anodised.

This is what happens when you try to be nice to your bike :)

Crikey!

I once researched the possibility of 'better' Paoili forks. To no avail, but might be worth enquiring

Joachim, there were used forks on Ebay Kleinenzagen recently. I hope I’ve spelt that correctly!
